Goa Election Results 2022 Highlights: BJP receives support from MGP, Independent MLAs, to form govt
The tally of 20 was an improvement from 2017, when the BJP had won 13 seats in the 40-member assembly, where the simple majority mark is 21. The Congress won 11 seats, down from 17 five years ago, and its ally Goa Forward Party (GFP) one. Three Independents also made it to the assembly. The AAP and the MGP won two seats each, while the Revolutionary Goans Party bagged one seat.

BJP to form govt in Goa
In 2017, the BJP had won 13 seats in the 40-member assembly, where the simple majority mark is 21. The Congress won 11 seats, down from 17 five years ago, and its ally Goa Forward Party (GFP) one. Three Independents also made it to the assembly. The AAP and the MGP won two seats each, while the Revolutionary Goans Party bagged one seat. The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, which had a pre-poll alliance with the MGP drew a blank. As it emerged as the single largest party, the BJP quickly secured the support of the three Independent MLAs and the MGP, taking their combined tally in the new House to 25, well above the majority mark.
No untoward incident was reported in State during the counting. BJP won 20 seats, Indian National Congress Plus alliance 12, Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party 2, Trinumool Congress Party 0, Aam Aadmi party 2, Revolutionary Goan Party 1, Independent 3.

As per Goa CEO’s office, “The total percentage including EVM, Postal Ballot, and ETPBS counted in the state was 81.92% for North Goa 83.52% and South Goa 80.52%.

We have won 20 seats. MGP has also given us a letter of support. Three independent MLAs have also supported us. So, now we are 20+3+2 =25. There is a possibility that more candidates will join us. So we are forming the government,

Firstly, Central Parliamentary Board meeting will be held & central observers will be selected. Central observers will come to Goa & legislature party meeting will be held, then we’ll go to the Governor to stake claim for govt formation in the state.

Can’t say if Pramod Sawant will become CM again, says Goa Health Minister
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday said that he cannot predict whether Pramod Sawant will become the next chief minister of the coastal state and called it a “sensitive question”.
